The 2008 AESE Annual Meeting will be at the Radisson Woodlands Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona, on September 21–24. Registration is open to all those with an interest in earth-science publishing. The meeting will be held concurrently with the American Institute of Professional Geologists, the Arizona Hydrological Society, and the Third International Professional Geology Conference. The reception will be a joint event. Numerous professional and technical sessions, outstanding field trips, and evening social events will be available to everyone who attends.

The AESE technical session will comprise a full two-day schedule. Confirmed talks will cover best practices in guidebook and map preparation; photo editing; and archiving. Also planned are a panel discussion on freelance editing, updates on the latest developments in Web and print publishing, and a report on current activities of the International Year of Planet Earth.

AESE full registration includes the welcome reception at the High Country Conference Center on September 21, AESE technical sessions on September 22–23, AESE business meeting luncheon on September 22, AESE awards banquet on September 23, and the Grand Canyon field trip (box lunch included) on September 24. Registration also includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks on September 22–23. Additional events at an extra charge are the survey breakfast meeting on September 22 and the freelancers breakfast meeting on September 23.

All AESE events will be held at the Radisson Hotel, the conference headquarters. AESE registrants are welcome to attend any of the AIPG, AHS, and the IPGC technical sessions at the High Country Conference Center. AESE registrants are also welcome to sign up for any of the workshops, field trips, or social events. A shuttle will run throughout the day from the hotel to the conference center. Additional field trips include Fossil Creek, Walnut Canyon and Lake Mary, the red rocks of Sedona, Jerome mining district, Montezuma's Castle and Well, Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater, and Wupatki.

Flagstaff is a wonderful location for the meeting. It is the gateway to the Grand Canyon and so many other spectacular geologic and cultural sites. Walking in Flagstaff is quite enjoyable, with the historic area and shopping located close to the hotel and the conference center.
